
Discovery Camps
For children ages 6 and 7 entering 1st and 2nd Grade in the fall. Arts & Sciences offers fun and affordable summer camps that embody our school culture of honoring the whole child – cognitive, social and emotional development. Camps are led by experienced teachers and groups are divided by age. Camp activities are uniquely designed to meet the abilities and interests of each age group to foster a memorable summer camp experience.
CAMP TIMES: Monday through Friday 9am-3pm. Beforecare (8am-9am) and Aftercare (3pm-5:30pm) is available for an additional charge.
COST: Discovery camps are $285 per week with no additional fees for materials. CYFD subsidies accepted. Apply online for Financial Aid.

Week 1 – Lab Rats
June 13 – June 17

Mix, create, investigate! Make hypotheses, experiment with wild concoctions, test the laws of physics…In this camp we’ll employ the concepts of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) learning to take thoughtful risks, engage in experiential learning, persist in problem-solving, embrace collaboration, and work through the creative process as we have a whole lot of fun. Week 2 – Pokémon
June 20 – June 24
CAMP IS FULL
Become a Pokémon master! Learn about Pokémon and design your own Pokémon characters and set of trading cards. Create your own PokeBalls and capture wild Pokémon to train. We will play our own version of Pokémon Go, searching for different species residing in different areas of the campus. Come and learn about metamorphosis and have a blast sequencing Pokémon battles. Week 3 – Pet Shop
June 27 – July 1
CAMP IS FULL
Have a new experience everyday with your favorite stuffed animal! You will have fun creating a pet shop and becoming an expert on your own special friend. Create a habitat or home for your pet, learn what your animal needs to stay healthy and happy, enter your pet in a camp pet show and more!

Week 4 – Get in the Game
July 11 – July 15
CAMP IS FULL
Ready to play? Learn new cooperative and competitive games to play with your friends. Work together as a group to win. Compete in Olympic-style challenges to earn medals. Relax and hang out with card and board games. Share your favorite games from home with others. Good sportsmanship and teamwork will be an essential part of this camp as we practice playing together. Week 5 – Comic Book Creations
July 18 – July 22
Doodles consuming the pages of your school notebooks? Make them into a full-fledged story illustration! In this exciting camp, campers will explore what a great comic book looks like, then expand their ideas to develop characters, learn drawing techniques to illustrate their stories, and create their very own comic strips.

Week 6 – Minecraft In Real Life
July 25 – July 29
CAMP IS FULL
Get ready to live Minecraft in real life. You’ve played the video game, now use your knowledge to actually make your own pickaxe, collect lava, avoid the creeper and escape the exploding TNT. We will NOT be playing video games in this camp; it is strictly live action role playing. Get busy and get real! Lead Teacher: Max Pitman

Week 7 – Art Parts
August 1 – August 5
CAMP IS FULL
Brimming with creativity? Express yourself using a variety of mediums. Use natural materials, clay, recycled objects, household items and even food to create your next masterpiece.
