Discovery Camps

For children ages 7 and 8 entering 2nd and 3rd Grade in the fall. Arts & Sciences offers fun and affordable summer camps that embody our school culture of honoring the whole child – cognitive, social and emotional development. Camps are led by experienced teachers and groups are divided by age. Camp activities are uniquely designed to meet the abilities and interests of each age group to foster a memorable summer camp experience. 

CAMP TIMES: Monday through Friday 9am-3pm. Beforecare (8:30am-9am) and Aftercare (3pm-5pm) are available for an additional charge.

COST: Discovery camps are $325 per week with no additional fees for materials. ECECD subsidies accepted.  Financial Aid is available.

Week 1 – Picture Book Art

June 10 – June 14      Cost of Camp $325

Using illustrations from award-winning picture books as a springboard, campers will learn about the elements of art, principles of design, and artistic styles and create a portfolio of their original works. Each day, we will enjoy reading and critiquing the art in picture books as a group and then exploring a variety of art materials and techniques as they create their unique masterpieces.

Week 2 – Board Games

June 17 – June 21   $325

Feeling bored this summer? Join this engaging camp where campers will play popular board games and then make their own. We spend time playing popular board games and figuring out what makes a game a game. They will design their unique game boards and create the accessories needed to play including game pieces, cards, spinners,  and written directions . . . all to take home and share with friends and family.

Week 3 – Critters, Creatures, and Creativity in Nature

June 24 – June 28   CAMP IS FULL

Get curious about earth, nature, plants, and the critters that live within! Build fairy and gnome homes, create a small pollinator garden, a butterfly feeder, and go on scavenger hunts. Enjoy a week filled with wonder and learning about nature and some of its glorious critters through fun projects that get our hands a little dirty.

Week 4 – Comic Book Camp

July 8 – July 12   CAMP IS FULL

Pow! Bang! Kaboom! Come explore the art of creating an epic comic book! Dive deep into creating a storyboard, drawing cartoons, creating interesting characters, and putting it all together to make a unique comic book. Enjoy a fun-filled week of art, creation, and storytelling!

Week 5 – Obstacle Course Camp

July 15 – July 19   CAMP IS FULL

This week is filled with obstacle courses and puzzles to solve all in the effort of team building! Have the opportunity to work with peers to accomplish tasks, develop skills in working together, all while having a blast. Use your agility to get through physical challenges and use your problem-solving skills to finish puzzles. Game faces on!

Week 6 – Silly Science

 July 22 – July 26   CAMP IS FULL

Put on your lab coats because this week we are getting curious about science! Is the sun hot enough to cook a snack? What happens when we mix oil with water? Does this object sink or float? These are just some of the questions we will be asking and answering through experimentation. Oh and of course we will make slime! Enjoy this wonder-filled week of exploration and learning.

Week 7 – Pokemon Creation Camp

July 29 – August 2   CAMP IS FULL

Use your imagination to create a whole new Pokemon, determine its abilities, and play games that show off your creature’s skills. Make an official Pokemon card and even bring your Pokemon to life.
