Move & Play Camps (ages 3 – 4)

For children ages 3 and 4 entering Preschool and Pre-K in the fall. Move and Play Camps are specially designed with the youngest campers in mind. The camps are led by our school’s Early Childhood Education Director and the Teacher in our Preschool/Pre-K classroom and are focused on exploration and play. 

CAMP TIMES: Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Beforecare (8:00 am – 9:00 am) and Aftercare (3:00 pm – 5:30 pm) are available for an additional charge.

COST: Move and Play camps are $230 per week with no additional fees for materials. Funds through CYFD are accepted. Scholarships are available. Download Financial Aid Application PDF

Week 1 – New Mexico Animal Friends

June 10 – June 14

Join us as we kick off a summer of fun at Arts & Sciences.  This first week, we will learn about the animals that live all around us in the high desert through music, storytelling, puppetry and the visual arts.  Children will learn and practice social and emotional skills to help them work and play together. Aurora

 

Week 2 – Backyard Bugs

June 17 – June 21

Learn all about the creatures that live in our own backyards through story, song, art and play. We will put on our scientist hats as we explore the creepy, crawly friends we find outside. Songs, stories and art projects will be featured, and children will be taught social and emotional skills that will help them work and play together. Aurora

 

Week 3 – Sensational!

June 24 – June 28

Pull up your sleeves and get ready to get messy! This week is about sensory fun: from mud and play dough to ooey gooey concoctions, we will explore how different materials can be created and played with. Children will enjoy songs, stories and art materials as well as learn social emotional skills that will help them work and play together. Aurora

 

Week 4 – Bright and Beautiful Batiks!

July 8 – July 12

Let’s play with brightly-colored paints and dyes, with wax in water, on paper and fabric. Where does batik work come from? What stories do they tell? What happens when wax and water meet? Provocations of traditional Batik patterns will be shared to inspire children to create their own patterns and stories using lines and shapes. Children will enjoy songs, stories and art and sensory materials, as well as learn social emotional skills that will them work and play together. Suzanne

 

Week 5 – Tra-La-La!

July 15 – July 19

Children will have the opportunity to explore different musical instruments and play with blank sheet music. We will have fun creating music, listening to songs and singing the songs that come from inside. Children will enjoy stories, art and sensory materials as well as learn social emotional skills that will them work and play together. Suzanne

Week 6 – The Giving Tree

July 22 – July 26

Where does fruit come from? How do we get paper? Let’s explore the many gifts we receive from trees. Build with wood blocks, make fruit smoothies, explore seeds and plant them, and make hand made paper. We’ll sing songs and hear stories while children are taught social and emotional skills that will help them work and play together. Suzanne

Week 7 – Pollinator Power!

July 22 – July 26

Learn about local pollinators and plants and their friendship together. We will become botanists and entomologists, discovering and wondering how these insects and plants help us have food to eat. Children will enjoy digging in the dirt, planting shrubs and flowers, and playing with insect puppets as we wonder how all this magic happens. We’ll sing songs and hear stories as children learn social and emotional skills that will help them work and play together. Suzanne
